The Rutgers basketball season has come to an end. After days of consideration, the program made it official. The Scarlet Knights announced that they will not participate in postseason tournaments this year.

The most disappointing season in Rutgers basketball history is officially over. The Scarlet Knights (15-17, 8-12) “will not participate in any postseason tournaments,” the program announced Sunday morning in a statement obtained by NJ Advance Media.

The Rutgers basketball team’s deeply disappointing 2024-25 season is now officially over. The Scarlet Knights considered entering the NIT or the College Basketball Crown – a new consolation tournament sponsored by Fox – but discussions between head coach Steve Pikiell and his players ended with the uniforms getting tucked away.

What we know is that the Rutgers Scarlet Knights will miss out on the NCAA Tournament once again. What we will wait to find out is if Rutgers will receive invitations to other postseason tournaments.
