An Oregon appeals court has found that a voter-approved gun control law is constitutional, reversing a lower court ruling.

Oregon’s second-highest court affirmed Wednesday that the voter-approved gun control law Measure 114 is constitutional, potentially clearing the way for the law to take effect after being on hold for years because of a Harney County judge’s ruling.

The Oregon Court of Appeals upheld the Reduction of Gun Violence Act, a gun control law approved by voters in November 2022, which requires background checks and permits for gun purchases and limits magazine capacity to 10 rounds.
