2017年7月8日 · Tube cracking is caused when the tube is not properly deburred. Do not cut tube with a tube cutter. When the cutter becomes dull, it hardens the end of the tube causing flaring to be very difficult. Flaring tube takes practice and an understanding of how the tool works. Once the practice is put in, the understanding will follow.

When we had to form a new double flare we took the time to sand the coating off where the flaring tool had to clamp on the line.This allowed the serrations in the tool to dig into tubing sufficiently to hold the tube during the forming of the double flare.

2015年12月1日 · A cheap V-groove router bit makes an excellent deburring tool. The end of the line in the photo has been done with this technique; nice result, ready to flare. The line used here is the copper/zinc type; not cheap, but makes a really fine line. If your cut is a wee bit off 90', you can square this line with 220 grit on a flat surface.

2021年7月21日 · When I built my 3W back in the early '80s I bought a 37 degree single flaring tool and used AN fittings with 3/16" stainless hard lines. It was time consuming but I still feel that the effort was worth the time. I gave the flaring tool to a friend because I didn't think I'd need it again.

2009年6月20日 · Clamp the flaring tool into a vise. When setting the line height in the tool, use the edge of the insert to set the height. Clamp the snot out of it, you might break those cheap wing nuts and replace with standard hex nuts with SAE flat washers. Continue with the forming "wedge" as you probably have done.

2007年7月4日 · I bought about 300 ft of 3/16" (4.75mm) stainless tubing and a Kent-Moore ISO flaring tool with the idea of doing all my brake lines in stainless. Now that I am ready to start, I find that the K-M tool won't hold the tubing well enough to get a flare started.
