VW have been evolving Golf platform for decades, and it shows. Whereas GLA is brand new (albeit on CLA platform, itself quite new), and feels like not everything is sorted out yet.

Sep 20, 2016 · From my testings, Golf R Stage 1 without launch control accelerates 0-60 same as a GTI Stage 1 (As long as it grips) (I get 6 seconds on Golf R and 6.3 on GTI) - With Launch Control on Golf R I get 4s or better sometimes!
