Our findings indicate that pro-choice cause lawyers in pivotal abortion cases are more likely to engage in women’s-rights framing innovations when they confront a hostile political and legal climate, one where prominent political leaders, the majority of the Justices, and, often, public opinion run contrary to the pro-choice agenda.
